The Lahaina, Maui Strong bike jersey design is based on the iconic banyan tree located in the Lahaina Banyan Court Park on Maui.
The tree was planted in April 1873 and grew from a mere 8 feet to a height of about 60 feet. The canopy spreads over the park and it is considered the largest banyan tree in the country.
However, the 2023 wildfires destroyed the town of Lahaina and severely damaged the banyan tree, but after examination it is showing signs of regeneration.
From each sale of the Lahaina, Maui Strong bike jersey $50 will be donated to the Relief Fund to help support the local community and their rebuild.
Emblazoned across the shoulders of the jersey is the state motto, 'Ua Mau ke Ea o ka ʻĀina i ka Pono' which is most commonly translated as 'The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness.'
